A couple of points to note:

- By "Label" we mean a fundamental change to the layout of the label such as the addition of SIUK; "Parlophone Co." rimtext to "Gramophone Co."; "Recording First Published 1963" to " 1963" etc.

- By "Variation" we mean a minor change to font, tracklist layout, credits etc which are still within the constraints of a single "Label". Due to multiple printers creating labels and the way discs were issued, multiple variations can coexist at any one time so label 1A may not be actually older than 1B but were created and in use simultaneously. Although we do try to create a general logical progression of variations, in cases where we are sure a variation is later than a predecessor we will mention it in the writeup.
